Zagreb Film Festival 2012

Einen Tag vor unserer Ankunft hatte das Zagreb Film Festival gerade gestartet. Es gab ein breit gefächertes Programm über alle Kinos der Stadt verteilt. Alle Filme wurden in der Originalsprache gezeigt und waren sowohl kroatisch als auch englisch untertitelt. Perfekt! Für den zweiten Abend war also Kino angesagt. Dunja hatte ohne sich ernsthaft mit dem angesetzten Film beschäftigt zu haben für die Abendvorstellung Karten im wunderschönen Jugendstilhauptkino des Festivals besorgt. Wir wussten nur, dass es sich um den Film einer australischen Regisseurin handeln würde, also gingen wir von einem englischsprachigen Film aus. Zu unserer großen Überraschung war die Filmsprache aber deutsch. Der Film handelte von Flüchtlingskindern nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg im in Besatzungszonen aufgeteilten Deutschland. Sprachprobleme gab es also keine. Dafür aber sehr starke Bilder und nicht ganz so leicht verdauliche Kost in dem wirklich empfehlenswerten Film von Cate Shortland "Lore".

The Zagreb Film Festival had just started the day before our arrival. There was a wide program of all kinds of films shown in cinemas all over the city. All films were screened in the original language and  subtitled in Croatian and English. Perfect! So movie theatre was the order of the second night. Dunja had bought the tickets for the evening performance in the beautiful Art Nouveau main theatre of the festival without really checking what the film was about. We only knew that it the director was Australian so we thought of an Englisch speaking film. To our great surprise the film was in German. The storyline was about refugee kids in a divided and occupied Germany after World War II. So there was no language problem at all. But very strong pictures and a heavy and sad story. Anyway highly recommended: film by Cate Shortland called "Lore".
